About SAFE UK

We are a grassroots organisation who provide an accommodation and mentor package for individuals who are homeless and/or ex offenders.

We aim to empower individuals to harness resolutions to their situation. We will do this through promoting a sense of pride, responsibility, confidence and worth.

Our aim is to provide a decent standard of living with attention paid to a high quality fit for purpose environment. We believe in making the living space both safe, supporting and inspiring.

The residents will be encouraged and invited to play an active role in the upkeep and maintenance of the communal and private living spaces.

A sense of belonging and community are central to SAFE’s ethos and we take practical steps to shape this. These include the preparation of meals and eating together, problem solving as a group, exposure to nature and having fun.

The residents at SAFE’s accommodation will be aided by a structured supported living programme. This will be a combined approach of house and community rules for all as well as an individual mentor programme. The mentor programme is underpinned by a listening and sharing approach. So upon arrival at SAFE the resident will attend an informal meeting to ascertain their challenges, needs and relevant history, we will then work together to set a series of goals. These will be a mixture of short and long term. SAFE staff will be available daily to work with the residents to follow these.

These goals will vary for each resident. They may include employment, volunteering, education, life skills, family relationships, passions and hobbies, addiction, mental health, physical health, religious worship and spiritual matters, financial issues to name a few. SAFE take a holistic approach to the individual meaning that these issues are often connected, for example poor mental heath will be preventing access to education so we will address these hand in hand rather than as separate issues.

Our aim is to be a stop gap for individuals who need assistance for a temporary period of time. SAFE house, nurture without judgement and prepare residents for the next step on their life journey. We intend to prepare residents for their next permanent situation better equipped to cope and support themselves and with renewed courage to be a positive community member.
